FOLLOWING UP ON THE COMPLETE REDESIGNED FROM 2024 FEATURING AN INCREASED LUFF CURVE AND REDUCED HEAD GEOMETRY FOR IMPROVED FLIGHT CONTROL AND WIND RANGE The WARP_FOIL extends our PWA and IFCA fin slalom champion sail range. It’s a specific and highly advanced foil design suited for foil racers looking for something that complements the low-drag of the hydrofoil. Compared to traditional fin sailing you have approximately 70% lower drag on the foil. Therefore it requires a totally different sail design (profile, twist pattern, aspect ratio) to match the low-drag hydrofoils.The design of the 20.24 represented a milestone, as we were able to massively improve the wind range (= improved average speed) and the flight control in the upper range (= improved V-Max). To achieve this we significantly increased the luff curve and reduced the head size. A shortened boom length and the incorporation of a massive double-foil sleeve size were further key design elements.The WARP_FOIL 2024 concept was very well received, so we decided to build on its success with an evolved version. By updating the batten configuration to a stiffer setup, we’ve maintained the sail's incredible efficiency while enhancing control in stronger winds. This change is paired with a slightly flatter entry of the sail, which improves top speed across all sizes. Together, these updates make the WARP_FOIL an even better foil sail for 2025In our eyes, the WARP_FOIL 20.25 redefines the benchmark of the control to performance to wind-range ratio. SUPER_HERO D/LAB - creating the sail of your dreams! Imagine a world where restrictions in sail design and construction would cease to exist. how would the sail of your dreams look like? For 2025 we have restructured our sail range according to the materials and construction being used (for further details please see below under D/LAB vs. SLS vs. Originals).As a consequence the SUPER_HERO SLS is now being called SUPER_HERO D/LAB. It’s simply the biggest evolution on a wave sail in our history deservedly carrying the D/LAB label. Because for us, D/LAB represents the maximum technically achievable, giving a glimpse into the future.3 things set the SUPER_HERO D/LAB apart from any other sail out there:1.       Unseen wind rangeUnbelievable but true the wind range is extended in both directions means it gets planning earlier while offering more high-end control. To give you a better idea on the Original SUPER_HERO a typical quiver is 5.3 – 4.7 – 4.2. With the SUPER_HERO D/LAB though you can go 5.0 – 4.2 and cover the same range!2.       Ultra-light ON THE WATERThe physical weight is just one side of the medal. As usual though the real truth happens on the water. The sailing weight describes how light the sail feels in your hands while sailing. It is a combination of the physical weight but more importantly the sail’s dynamic. Therefore we are only interested in the so called sailing weight. A responsive/dynamic sail feels lighter in your hands. On the other hand a spongy sail feels heavier in your hands “eating up” much of the physical weight advantage. Technora/Dyneema and Kevlar have a high tear strength, but are not very stiff (only similar stiffness than the Polyester monofilm). Therefore, if being reduced in thickness to save weight (membrane and laminated or composite sails), these sails tend to become quite spongy and dull to ride. This sponginess results in a less efficient sail with a reduced wind range (especially when overpowered). Carbon, on the other hand, is approx. 3-4 times stiffer than Technora/Dyneema and Kevlar. Using our INTELLIGENT CARBON XPLY CONSTRUCTION we have found the ideal balance. The CARBON XPLY in the high load clew, top and tack areas guarantee unsurpassed low stretch and power transmission. However, the slightly more (re)flexing regular XPly in the body avoids the power from becoming uncontrollable. This makes the SUPER_HERO D/LAB extremely responsive and dynamic. In combination with the very low physical weight this results in the lowest possible sailing weight. There is no sail that feels lighter in your hands than the SUPER_HERO D/LAB!3.       Ultra-light without any sacrifice on durabilityThe easy and usual way to bring down the weight is by reducing the film/laminate thickness. Unfortunately reducing the film thickness has an over-proportional effect on the wear resistance and longevity in general. This is the reasons why reducing the weight the easy way by just reducing the skin thickness has never been an option for us - because all our products are designed and engineered according to our motto “LIGHT DONE RIGHT”.For the SUPER_HERO D/LAB we use the same film/laminate thickness as with our bomb-proof Original SUPER_HERO. The fusion bonding joining the panels are much stronger than traditional sewing (actually the fusion bonding is even stronger than the materials itself). Hard to believe but experience has shown that the SUPER_HERO D/LAB is even stronger than the Original SUPER_HERO. We back this up with our industry-leading 5 YEAR WARRANTY, something no other brand is able to offer.Using the SUPER_HERO D/LAB for the first time it feels as if your body becomes united with the sail and you are truly connected with the waves. The lightning quick reflex reactions without any sacrifice in control is a real game changer, so much so, all of our Pro Team will be using the SUPER_HERO D/LAB in 2025. Please note: after intensive uv radiation, the fusion bonding may take on a yellowish tint. COMBINED WITH THE LIGHT DONE RIGHT CONSTRUCTION AND ALL THE OTHER BUILD CONCEPTS DEVELOPED OVER THE PAST DECADE THE REINCARNATION OF THE DUKE IS SET TO BE THE NEW BENCHMARK FOR WIND-RANGE ORIENTED HANDLING SAILS. Our most successful 5-batten sail ever came back with a bang in SS23, and for SS25 we have given it a facelift!The DUKE combines our LIGHT DONE RIGHT construction and all the other build concepts developed over the past decade to set a new benchmark for wind-range oriented handling sails.When it came to developing the DUKE, it was a 1.5 year project, with you, the final user always at the center of the development. As a starting point we involved “real” end-consumers who use these kinds of sails regularly and our surf centers to define a bucket list for the reincarnation of the DUKE, and here is the outcome and how we went about it:Maximum wind range especially in changing and/or super gusty conditions.This is the most important factor and the major advantage when going for a 5-batten handling sail. As a simple rule, more battens give you more control and a bigger wind range. Usually this has a negative effect on the lowend power as more battens make it harder for the wind to inflate the sail and it becomes less efficient for pumping. Therefore, we have incorporated the BATTEN FREE CENTER concept from the SUPER_HERO. Instead of the usual even batten distribution the DUKE features a bigger gap between the foot batten and the batten above the boom. This makes the boom area easier to inflate plus increases the stability in the top (due to the increased batten density in this area). The second downside is that every batten increases the weight of the sail. That’s the reason why there was a trend towards fewer battens for wave sails in the past years.Superlight feeling in your hands but without falling apart after 1-2 seasons.The reduced weight of 4-batten sails was the major reason for the disappearance of the 5-batten sails in the past decade. Fortunately, we have made some major construction improvements over the last 10 years. The outcome of this development was the LIGHT DONE RIGHT CONSTRUCTION which got introduced in 2022. By replacing the usual multilayer reinforcements with a single layer of high-quality fabric and introducing the ONE PIECE SLEEVE we were able to reduce the overall weight by 300g. Most important we are the only brand out there where these weight savings have been achieved without reducing the thickness of the film and XPly panels. Only this way we can still guarantee our unmatched 5 year warranty. Another issue when reducing the film thickness is that the sail becomes spongy as the energy fizzles out in the increased elongation. This leads to the sail feeling heavier in your hands. So in contrary to others our sails are not just lighter on the scale but especially in your hands on the water when you use them. Cause this is where it really counts!Early planing power even without excessive pumpingTo achieve maximum planing power the DUKE features a high draft distribution combined with a deep profile which helps lifting the board onto the plane.Super neutral in maneuversTo make tricks and turns as easy as possible the sail should go completely neutral during maneuvers. Therefore, the DUKE comes with a more forward oriented draft position. The forward draft turns the power off and goes completely neutral as soon as you sheet out or shift the sail. This results in a much higher success rate.Good lift and control for jumpingThe higher draft position also increases your airtime as it generates lift while the more forward oriented draft position helps you to always remain in control.Maximum range of useOne of the greatest assets of the DUKE is its versatility. It’s pure extasy in bump & jump conditions on your freewave board or as a smaller sail for blasting around on your freeride board. The forward/up draft position makes it also very capable for classic and even new school freestyle tricks. And last but not least it’s a great sail for medium wave and/or jumping conditions especially in gusty or challenging wind conditions. We call this CUSTOM CNC SANDWICH.We use a construction which is one hundred percent identical to the most high-end custom made boards. Instead of using a mould to bring the EPS foam core into its final shape each EPS block gets CNC milled. This ensures maximum precision and saves weight. Same as with high-end custom board makers the major advantage lays in the processing. We call this SINGLE PROCESS TECHNOLOGY and it is the key to our industry-leading weight-strength ratio. Instead of combining working steps to safe time and money every single step follows its individual process. So for example instead of joining the PVC sandwich with the EPS core in a single shot we vacuum-bag the top and bottom PVC shields with the EPS core separately. Also instead of using standard 3mm PVC elements for the entire board we use thicker and thinner PVC plates as well according to the stress areas which makes the board lighter yet stronger.For all D/LAB boards we use our most sophisticated layup which consists of more than 60 individual parts and components (nearly 20% more parts than used for our SLS Premium Sandwich Construction). On top we are using the most high-end composite materials available to-date. All carbon fibres used are a mix of high strength and high modulus carbon qualities depending on the individual requirements of each board section. Our high modulus carbon used can also be found on high-end products like aircraft’s, Formula One cars or our Platinum SLS masts, booms and extensions. Innegra is a high modulus Propylene with unbeatable tensile and ding resistanceWe use our exclusive high performance S-glass fiber with an extra high silica content which offers much higher tensile strength as well as about 10-20% greater stiffness.And finally we are using our exclusive DUOTONE SENTEX resin impregnated with silicon nano-spheres which helps us to reduce the weight even further without sacrificing durability. Instead of using a similar layup on all boards we use a DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC FLEX CONSTRUCTION for all our D/LAB boards since demands on the different disciplines (wave, freestyle, freeride, racing) and conditions vary quite a lot.Racing boards are e made to offer maximum performance (instant acceleration and V-max). Therefore these boards need be as stiff as possible. To achieve this no compromise stiffness we use a super high carbon content on all FALCON D/LAB layups.On wave boards though a certain „give“ is essential since these boards are very short and might become too stiff thus uncontrollable using a full carbon layup. Therefore the GRIP D/LAB boards come with a higher Innegra + S-glass content. These high-tech composites have a much higher tensile strength avoiding breakages after high landings. To still achieve an outstanding"spring-back" characteristics which makes the board more reactive and has a tremendous effect on the acceleration we use unidirectional Carbon reinforcements in longitudinal direction. Last but not least even every single board size has an individual layup. That’s the final stage of individualisation in construction.The result speaks for itself since the D/LAB boards are approx. 500 grams lighter than our SLS boards and up to a full kilo lighter than any other serial production board.
