Everyone strives to be different and thus loves individualisation. But do you want to buy a surprise egg custom boards often turn out to be? Or trust in a proven shape by a brand which has continuously been at the forefront of the board development with over 40 years of experience. Look no further cause here comes the GRIP D/LAB board range.At DUOTONE only real game-changer products qualify to carry the D/LAB logo. So what’s so special about these boards to allow them to become the first D/LAB products under DUOTONE Windsurfing?During the last 3 years our product manager boards Dani Aeberli and our QC specialist Vasin Siritho have worked on a new technology which is exclusive for DUOTONE. We call this FULL CUSTOM CNC.We use a construction which is one hundred percent identical to the most high-end custom made boards. Instead of using a mould to bring the EPS foam core into its final shape each EPS block gets CNC milled. This ensures maximum precision and saves weight. Same as with high-end custom board makers the major advantage lays in the processing. We call this SINGLE PROCESS TECHNOLOGY and it is the key to our industry-leading weight-strength ratio. Instead of combining working steps to save time and money every single step follows its individual process. So for example instead of joining the PVC sandwich with the EPS core in a single shot we vacuum-bag the top and bottom PVC shields with the EPS core separately. Also instead of using standard 3mm PVC elements for the entire board we use thicker and thinner PVC plates as well according to the stress areas which makes the board lighter yet stronger.For all D/LAB boards we use our most sophisticated layup which consists of more than 60 individual parts and components (nearly 20% more parts than used for our SLS Premium Sandwich Construction). On top we are using the most high-end composite materials available to-date. All carbon fibres used are a mix of high strength and high modulus carbon qualities depending on the individual requirements of each board section. Our high modulus carbon used can also be found on high-end products like aircraft’s, Formula One cars or our Platinum SLS masts, booms and extensions. Innegra is a high modulus Propylene with unbeatable tensile and ding resistance. It offers a similar tensile strength to Kevlar, but is significantly stiffer. In addition, Innegra is the best composite fibre to prevent dents.We use our exclusive high performance S_GLASS+ with an extra high silica content which offers much higher tensile strength as well as about 10-20% greater stiffness.And finally we are using our exclusive DUOTONE SENTEX resin impregnated with silicon nano-spheres which helps us to reduce the weight even further without sacrificing durability. Instead of using a similar layup on all boards we use a DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC FLEX CONSTRUCTION for all our D/LAB boards since demands on the different disciplines (wave, freestyle, freeride, racing) and conditions vary quite a lot.Racing boards are made to offer maximum performance (instant acceleration and V-max). Therefore these boards need be as stiff as possible. To achieve this no compromise stiffness we use a super high carbon content on all FALCON D/LAB layups.On wave boards though a certain „give“ is essential since these boards are very short and might become too stiff thus uncontrollable using a full carbon layup. Therefore the GRIP D/LAB boards come with a higher Innegra and S_GLASS+ content. These high-tech composites have a much higher tensile strength avoiding breakages after high landings. To still achieve an outstanding "spring-back" characteristics which makes the board more reactive and has a tremendous effect on the acceleration we use unidirectional Carbon reinforcements in longitudinal direction. Last but not least even every single board size has an individual layup. That’s the final stage of individualisation in construction.The result speaks for itself since the D/LAB boards are approx. 500 grams lighter than our SLS boards and up to a full kilo lighter than other serial production boards. And it’s the first time that a production board can compete even with the lightest custom boards out there. Yet all of this is achieved without any sacrifice in durability since we always follow our core motto LIGHT DONE RIGHT.Please note that at least in the first year quantities will be strictly limited - just like a real custom board. THE BRAND NEW ALFA FEATURES AN ULTRA-MODERN 2.5-BATTEN DESIGN (3.0 M² AND ABOVE) THAT OFFERS EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF INDIVIDUALS. WE WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE MOST WELL-KNOWN SURFING SCHOOLS AND ASSOCIATIONS, WHOSE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WERE SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCES ON THE CONCEPT. The ALFA is an easy planing sail that will accompany any beginner or dedicated improver for a very long time. It’s super easy to get out of the water and very easy to control on all courses as well as during manoeuvres. In sub planing conditions it really gives the rider something to hold on to, offering stability that will come in handy on choppy waters. Once planing, the sail stays very well balanced. The wind pressure can be gradually transformed into speed, so that the rider is always in full control. With the use of Dacron and vinyl, the ALFA is virtually indestructible, making it ideal for use in windsurfing schools. Thanks to the elastic nature of the Dacron material and its unique shape, the ALFA loads up very gently and develops a full profile. As a result, it generates powerful propulsion and has excellent planing characteristics. Moreover, the draft position remains stable even when far into the planing range.

For these individuals we have specifically developed the NOW – a highly lightweight, powerful and high-quality performance handling sail developed based on the current SUPER_HERO model yet adapted so it can be used by smaller/lighter riders with ease. While most sail brands use the same layouts and materials for grom and women sails as in their adult-sized sails for reasons of simplicity (e.g. the heavy X.PLY), we do things differently. SIMILAR TO THE S_PACE THE BRAND-NEW F_PACE CAM IS DIRECTLY DERIVED FROM OUR WARP RACING PROGRAM. IT CARRIES THE RACING GENES OF OUR PWA WORLD CHAMPION SAIL WARP_FOIL FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE HANDLING IS EXCEPTIONALLY EASY FOR THIS CLASS. Compared to traditional fin sailing you have approximately 70% less drag on the foil. We were the first brand to understand that it requires a totally different sail design (profile, twist pattern, aspect ratio) to match the low-drag hydrofoils. The most important factor for performance foil sails is the balance between control and performance/speed over a maximum wind range combined with effortless handling. Compared to the regular F_PACE the F_PACE CAM features an additional 6th batten and 2 HYPER CAM 2.0 + 2 SLEEVE INDUCERS. In addition the F_PACE CAM is designed around SDM masts. All this leads to a much more performance oriented behavior over a huge wind range. The high aspect outline with reduced top surface corresponds perfectly with the low water resistance of the hydrofoil and the almost non-existent lateral forces. With less movement in the top, the rig remains stable over the board, for maximum control yet very reactive. The foot closes perfectly with the deck and allows for extreme angles against the wind with the extended foot batten – yet thanks to the extremely concave outline without any negative influence to the handling! All sizes are now equipped with an XPly top panel. The slightly more elastic XPly improves control in high winds and keeps the leech stable. Another major improvement to enhance control is the reduced profile at batten 6 which shifts the main power to the center. In our eyes, the F_PACE CAM redefines the benchmark of control : performance : wind-range ratio. And all of this combined with effortless handling and super smooth rotation so that even intermediate riders can choose the F_PACE CAM.

FOILSAILING IS MORE POPULAR THAN EVER AND IS DEVELOPING RAPIDLY. MEANWHILE, IN ADDITION TO CLASSIC FOILRIDING, FOILSTYLING AS A PLAYFUL VARIATION WITH A CLEAR LEANING TOWARDS FREESTYLE IS CAUSING A LOT OF EXCITEMENT AND UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES. BOTH “PLAYGROUNDS” HAVE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS THAT REGULAR FIN SAILS CANNOT MEET. This is exactly why the completely redesigned F_PACE range consists of two differently designed models, which up to size 5.8 are clearly described as F_PACE STYLE while 6.4 and 7.4 come as F_PACE RIDE. But both designs have one thing in common: they are spiked with innumerable, foil-specific design features that have a decisive influence on performance and result in extraordinary characteristics in their respective spectrum. Only 4 (STYLE) or 5 (RIDE) battens, a super short boom and a reduced luff curve combine to produce a favourably soft and very light foil sail. Should it really be necessary to pump, the low sail foil tension immediately builds up propulsion and effective acceleration. Especially on the F_PACE STYLE the extremely short boom, 4 super easy rotating battens and the low weight result in a playful handling that difficult manoeuvres and moves require: a lot of propulsion, minimized swing weight and - if necessary - spontaneous on-off.
